Kitchenuhmaykoosib has their own Loch Ness Monster. Several
community
members have seen a huge water snake in the deep waters of Kitchenuhmay
koosib. They have seen it even around the bay of the community.
In the 40's and 50's, community members used to see Mermaids
sitting on
rock islands or popping out of the waters.
There is a bottomless depth near one of the islands
of Kitchenuhmaykoosib.
Elders /Ancestors believed/said that this is where large snakes & mermaids come up
from.

Genevieve Cromarty of KI has been working as a cleaning
lady at the local KI Nursing Station for over 53 years and
she is still working at this place May 21, 2010. If you don't
believe it, ask for her work records from Health & Welfare
Canada.
On first weekend of May, 2010, an odd looking, foot long
animal ( a cross breed of an otter/beaver or muskrat) with
a rat tail with a white almost a human face was found
floating on the shore of Kitchenuhmaykoosib by a couple
Nurses who are non natives & are not from the community.
According to elders it is a sign a bad omen, something bad
will happen AND IT DID HAPPEN.
